Take My Cards!
Want some fairly free cards? I’ve got a whole stack of ‘em, ripe for the picking! Just make a non-refundable 1¢ donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters via Crackin’ Wax and you’ll be able to choose up to 20 of the available cards! A SASE is required to receive your requested cards. Participation is easy! Just follow these easy steps!
Firstly, read through the posted rules and scan through the card database, all provided below these steps, and find the cards that you may want.
If you have found cards you’d like, make a non-refundable 1¢ donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters by clicking on the PayPal Donate button below. Once you have made your non-refundable donation, you will be taken to the card request form. DO NOT MAKE YOUR REQUEST HERE. Your PayPal e-mail address and the date you made your non-refundable donation will be required.
After your non-refundable donation and your card request have been submitted, I will confirm your request via e-mail. Depending on how many requests I receive and other extenuating circumstances, it may take a day or two for me to send out your confirmation. Your confirmation e-mail will contain an address to which you must send your SASE and any card protection you’d like me to use. Please make sure to check your e-mail’s trash and spam/junk. If your SASE has not been received by the same date of the next month, the cards you have requested will be unheld and will become available for someone else to claim. Once you have received your cards, you are welcome to make another non-refundable donation and request!
To be fair to all those that would like a chance at these cards, I am only accepting up to 20 total cards per request (19 if requesting a red highlighted card). Only 2 yellow highlighted cards or 1 red highlighted card per request, please. Any card that is marked as claimed (indicated by a name under the NAME column and the date the claim was made under the DATE column) is currently under request and may not be available. Once you have received your cards, you are welcome to make another request. Please provide your own card protection (i.e. penny sleeves, toploaders). Card requests will be honored on a first-come first-served basis. If your SASE has not been received by the same date of the next month, the cards you have requested will be unheld and will become available for someone else to claim.
If you do not supply enough postage on your envelopes, your cards may not be delivered.
WHEN REQUESTING CARDS
As a courtesy, please request each card as they are listed (Set Year and Name, Card Number, Team, Player Name, Notes). Not only will this make things faster and easier for me, it will eliminate confusion i.e. requesting cards of the same player in different sets. Below is an example of the preferred method for requesting cards.
2010 U.D. S1
48 Arizona Diamondbacks Doug Slaten
99 Boston Red Sox George Kottaras
2013 Topps Heritage
183 Tampa Bay Rays Fernando Rodney
BF-EB Chicago Cubs Ernie Banks Baseball Flashbacks
SEND YOUR SASE TO:
After you have made your card request, I will confirm your request via e-mail. Depending on how many requests I receive and other extenuating circumstances, it may take a day or two for me to send out your confirmation. This e-mail will contain the address to which you should send your SASE. Please make sure to check your e-mail’s trash and spam/junk.
SUGGESTED SASE RECOMMENDATIONS
In my experience, I have found that using a standard business size (#10) plain white envelope with no less than two U.S. “Forever” stamps is adequate for the SASE and that a thin cardboard envelope constructed out of something like a cereal box along with no less than one resealable team bag per 10 cards with the words “DO NOT BEND” written on the front of the SASE offers adequate protection for the cards during transit. This recommendation is not a guarantee of card protection, however this method has worked for me every time. Feel free to use any SASE and card protection that you prefer at your own risk.
Name in “NAME” Column = Claimed
Date in “DATE” Column = Date claim was made
Highlighted Yellow = You may only request up to two of these at a time
Highlighted Red = Counts as two Highlighted Yellow cards
Red Text = That card has been held for more than 30 days and may soon become available
