2009 Topps Allen & Ginter: My First Look

Without giving too much away, I will reveal that, while I’m a bigger fan of the design used for Topps A&G cards in the past, I’m kinda diggin’ this year’s design. We opened the first box during the Derby tonight (while rooting on Mr. Contact Joe Mauer). We pulled two Jersey cards and one Auto. We only yanked out a couple of Twins, though. I did notice that the actual photograph background was used on at least one of the base cards. I’m not sure if that’s anything significant. Thankfully for me, no doubles were pulled from this box. I expect quite a few tomorrow, though.

I will post my wants/needs list, doubles list, and other for-trade items tomorrow night. Hopefully I can get at least the base set put together in relatively short order. This will be my first ACTUAL full base set! I’ve never put one together before, so this will definitely be a different experience for me.
