Mine’s Bigger Than Yours
(and so is my fish…)
While we’re all anxiously, and, let’s be honest here, NERVOUSLY awaiting the new series of cards due out just weeks from now, I thought I’d go ahead and show off some of my favorite cards sitting in my personal collection. Ten, in fact. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
You’ll notice a bit of a trend in my top ten favorite cards. So sue me. Ok, please don’t sue me. I’m cardboard poor. My top ten is laden with Twins. It’s also full of something I tend to gripe about the most–gimmicks. Oh, the irony, I’m sure. Let me go on record right now before you all kill me with sticks by saying that, just like enjoying an alcoholic beverage, eating at a fast food restaurant, and making out with your best friend’s grandmother, gimmicks are fine in moderation.
Let’s get to it, shall we?
NUMBER 10

Kirby Puckett 07 SP Legendary Cuts 4 GU Jersey w/Stripes 01/25
As a fan of the Minnesota Twins, I have a bit of a soft spot for that teddy bear, Kirby Puckett. Not so much the post-baseball-career teddy bear, Kirby Puckett. Ya know, the one that was allegedly a shady character. *shudders and shivers* I’m more a fan of the clutch-hitting, play-making, star center fielder teddy bear, Kirby Puckett.
This is the first jersey gamer I’ve ever purchased. It cost me a bit more money than I think I would spend now, but I’m glad to have it all the same. I mean, it’s my favorite player of all time’s game-used jersey sitting in there for crying out loud! They call it a quad cut, but I’m pretty sure it’s actually two swatches of jersey with four die-cut windows. But that’s alright. This card lands at number ten more for its sentimental value than for its aesthetic value. It’s not really a terrible looking card, mind you. I have, however, seen much better. I’m also not a very big fan of small jersey swatches. Get me a big ol’ card-sized swatch with an auto or ten on it, and I’ll be salivating like a fat man on a hoagie. That’s actually a pretty good description of me.
If you pulled this card, would you flip it (which means you’d sell it–usually right away), or would you keep it? How would it rank amongst your favorite cards in your collection?
